Title of the Project : Enhancing 3D Competencies of Medical Scholars

Objectives of the Project:

To Provide Exposure and Basic Hands-on learning for Medical students/budding doctors on 3D Technologies, 3D Modeling, 3D Scanning, 3D Printing, AR/VR applications, which are becoming integral part of emerging medical science domain.

To Correlate 3D Technologies with Medical Application Areas for better Treatments and Patient Care

Scope of the Project

3D Technologies are playing major role for various applications in Medical Science. Doctors are now expected to use these technologies for better diagnosis, treatment, operations and patient care. Training curriculum development for doctors and medical science students/ practitioners in the area of 3D designing, 3D Modelling, 3D Scanning and 3D printing for Medical Applications, with a focus on 3D Modeling of Body Parts/Implants, Assembly Modelling Approaches for various Joints in Human Body, Metrology for Body Parts/Implants, 30 Scanning and 30 Printing of body parts. The project aims at Training a batch of 20 Medical students, 04 batches/year, i.e. 80 students per year

Deliverables of the Project

Curriculum development as specified in Annexure B Digital learning content for the curriculum for the scope as specified in Annexure B and for delivering training in 5 days i.e equivalent to 40 hours teaching and practical sessions.

Significance of the Project

Opportunity to equip students of Medical sciences/ budding doctors to enable and inspire them for adoption of 3D technologies for better treatment and patient care 3D Technologies are playing major role for various applications in Medical Science. Doctors are now expected to use these technologies for better diagnosis, treatment, operations and patient care. A well-defined curriculum and a structured hands-on training to students of Medical Science streams will play a significant role in equipping budding doctors with such a knowledge, know-how and hands-on experience. Such a program will laya strong foundation for budding doctors and in coming years it would lead to more and more inclusion of 3D Technologies for better patient care and Cure.

Outcomes of the Project

Doctors, medical science professionals to become familiar and conversant with the 3D Digital technologies, 3D Scanning, 3D Printing, AR/VR based simulations so that they are better prepared to use such tools/ technologies which are becoming essential part of medical science field. As an outcome of the training the learners will be able to geometrically model the body parts, implants etc. They wll be able to scan the body parts using 3D Scanners and can convert into .STL format. They would be proficient in manufacturing these components using Additive Manufacturing on 3D Printing Development of curriculum and digital learning content creation.
